Privacy Policy

The short version: your test answers never leave your browser — no answer, score or result is ever transmitted to us or anyone else. We have no accounts, no logins and no database of results, and we never sell data. We do use Google Analytics to count visits, which sets cookies; the detail and how to opt out are below.

Your test answers

Every questionnaire on this site — the mental age test, the mental maturity age test and the mental age calculator — is scored entirely by JavaScript running in your own browser.

  • No answer, score or result is transmitted to our servers or anyone else's.
  • No result is written to a database.
  • The optional age field on the mental age test is used only to compute the difference shown on screen. It is discarded when you leave the page.
  • Closing or refreshing the tab erases your result permanently. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.

This is verifiable. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and take a test. You will see no outbound request carrying your responses.

Local storage

We store exactly one value in your browser's local storage: mat-theme, which remembers whether you chose the light or dark colour scheme. It contains no personal information and is never transmitted. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Analytics and cookies

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count page views and understand which pages people find useful. We want to be specific about what that involves rather than describing it vaguely.

What it does:

  • It sets cookies in your browser — principally _ga and _ga_<container-id> — which hold a randomly generated identifier used to recognise a returning browser. They typically expire after two years.
  • It sends Google the page you viewed, the referring page, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and general device and browser information.
  • Google Analytics 4 does not log or store your full IP address; it is used to derive coarse location and then discarded.
  • Data is processed by Google, and Google's own privacy policy applies to it.

What it does not do:

  • It never receives your test answers, your scores or your results. Those are computed in your browser and are not sent anywhere, including to Google. This is verifiable in your browser's Network tab.
  • It does not receive your name, email address or any account details, because we never ask for them.
  • We do not use it to build advertising audiences, and we do not sell or share the data.

How to opt out. Any of these work, and none of them break the site:

  • Install Google's official Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Turn on your browser's tracking protection, or use a content blocker. The tests, the calculator and every word of the content work normally with analytics blocked.
  • Send Do Not Track, or block third-party cookies.

Advertising

This site may display advertising to cover hosting and development costs. Advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technologies in accordance with their own privacy policies, and may use them to show more relevant ads. They do not receive your test answers or results, which never leave your device.

You can manage ad personalisation through your browser settings, your device settings, and industry opt-out pages such as YourAdChoices and Your Online Choices.

Hosting and server logs

Our hosting provider maintains standard technical server logs, which may include IP address, browser user-agent, requested URL and timestamp. These are generated automatically by the act of loading any web page, are used only for security and reliability, and are not combined with any test data.

Third-party links

We link to external resources — Wikipedia, Britannica, Mental Health America, the NHS, crisis helplines. Once you follow a link, that site's privacy policy applies, not ours. We have no control over and take no responsibility for their practices.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age. The tests reference adult finances, work and relationships and are written for an adult audience.

Your rights

Data protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights of access, correction, deletion and objection over personal data held about you.

We hold no personal data about you directly: no accounts, no email list, no stored results, and nothing that identifies you by name. The one exception is the pseudonymous analytics identifier described above, which is held by Google rather than by us. You can remove it at any time by clearing your cookies, and you can prevent it being created at all using any of the opt-out methods listed above.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data — for example by adding a feature that saves results — we will update this page and change the date at the top before that feature goes live.
