About Mental Age Test
We build free, privacy-first psychology quizzes — and we publish how they work, which is unusual in this category. This page covers who we are, how the tests were written, and the things we will not claim.
What we do
Mental Age Test publishes short self-report questionnaires about mindset, maturity and mental age, alongside explanatory writing about where these concepts come from and what they can and cannot tell you. Everything on the site is free and requires no account.
The site exists because the mental age test category is full of quizzes that return a number with no explanation, no scoring method and, frequently, an invented expert reviewer. We thought a version that published its own workings — including its weaknesses — was worth building.
How the tests were built
The 25-item mental age test and the 12-item mental maturity age test were written in-house. Item content was informed by well-established psychological constructs — conscientiousness, sensation-seeking, emotion regulation, perspective-taking, future time perspective and locus of control — chosen because each has a documented relationship with age or maturity in the research literature.
Scoring is a fixed weighted sum converted through a published anchor table. Both instruments include reverse-ordered items as a straight-lining control. The full methodology, including the anchor values, is on the psychology page.
Editorial standards
- We publish our scoring. Every conversion table used to produce a result is visible on the site.
- We cite sources. Factual claims about Binet, ratio IQ, deviation IQ and validated clinical instruments link to primary or reference sources.
- We date our pages. Every article shows when it was last updated.
- We correct errors. If you find one, tell us and we will fix it and note the change.
- We do not invent credentials. See below.
On expert review
We do not currently have a licensed psychologist reviewing this site, and we do not display a badge suggesting we do. Several competing mental age tests show "academically reviewed" marks attached to names that are difficult or impossible to verify. We would rather be plainly unreviewed than decoratively credentialed.
If you are a licensed psychologist or academic working in personality, developmental or assessment psychology and would be willing to review our instruments and content, we would genuinely like to hear from you — and we would name you, with your affiliation, on the pages you reviewed.
What we will never claim
- That a mental age test measures intelligence, IQ or cognitive ability.
- That it screens for, indicates or rules out any mental health condition.
- That it is clinically validated, normed, or equivalent to a professional assessment.
- That a particular result is good, bad, healthy or concerning.

Privacy, in one paragraph
Every test on this site runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are never transmitted, never stored on a server and never linked to you. There is no account system and no email capture. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser's network inspector while taking a test. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
How the site is funded
Mental Age Test is supported by advertising and, where relevant, affiliate links to books and tools. Nothing we recommend is chosen because of a commercial relationship, and no result you receive is influenced by one. Where a link earns us a commission, we mark it. We do not sell data, because we do not collect any.
